Yes! Nomad contributes towards health plans regardless of your number of dependents.
Since we recognize that insurance is not a one-size-fits-all plan, we’ve opted to include options for our nurses! You pick the plan that best suits your needs. We’ve got high premium, low deductible options, as well as low premium, high deductible options. Rates are based on several factors, but can start as low as around $20/week! We encourage you to browse our options and choose the plan that is best for you.
Our coverage is a PPO plan provided through United Healthcare. We offer medical, dental, and vision coverage.
Our insurance kicks in day one of your assignment and ends on your contract end date. Upon the end of your contract, you will be provided with information to enroll in continued coverage through COBRA.
You have until you begin your assignment to enroll in our insurance. Outside of that, a life event or open enrollment periods would also make you eligible.
Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act (COBRA) allows employees to continue to receive benefits under their employer's group health plans after losing coverage due to termination. Should you elect coverage, your new effective date will be the day following the date your coverage was terminated. Employees pay their entire premium, plus an administrative fee.
If you end an assignment and have a new assignment booked through Nomad to begin within 14 days, you will not experience any interruptions to your insurance. If you book an extension of your current assignment, your coverage will continue for your extension! For further time off between assignments, your coverage can be continued via COBRA and information will be sent to you upon completion of your assignment.
It’s great that already have a plan you love! Our insurance is a benefit that’s there if you need it.
In the event that this may happen, your insurance terminates upon the date that your assignment ends, but you are given the option to continue coverage through COBRA.
For any additional questions about our coverage, feel free to reach out to your UHC insurance representative, at 1-877-842-3210 or to your Nomad point of contact!
